Data export and deletion policy

The short version

• Your courses and your customer list belong to you. You can export them at any time, without asking us.
• Ask us to delete your account and we'll delete it, and everything in it, within 30 days.
• Students can ask the creator they bought from, or us, to delete their details.

What we keep

For creators: your email address and name, your workspace and storefront details (name, about text, colour, logo), your courses (text, quizzes, uploaded videos and files, and the notes you uploaded for AI drafting), your sales records, and where you first found Aula (for example a link you clicked), so we know which channels work.

For students: email address and name, which courses they're enrolled in, lesson progress and quiz results, and their purchase records.

Payments: card details never touch Aula. Payments are handled by Stripe, on the creator's own Stripe account. We keep a record of each sale (amount, fees, date, buyer's email, Stripe's payment reference). Aula's own subscription billing is also handled by Stripe.

AI drafting: when you ask Aula to draft a course, the notes you uploaded are sent to Anthropic's Claude to write the draft. They're used only to produce your draft.

Exporting your data (creators)

On any course's Publish tab you can download, at any time:

• the whole course as a zip with a JSON file (every lesson, quiz answer and price, so it can be moved to another platform) and a Markdown file (readable anywhere);
• the course's students as a CSV file (email, name, how they joined, progress, quiz average, amount paid);
• all your sales as a CSV file (date, course, buyer, price, Stripe fee, Aula fee, what you received, refunds).

Uploaded videos and downloads can be downloaded from each lesson. If you need everything in one go, email us and we'll send you a link within 7 days.

Deleting your data

Creators: email clio@new-odyssey.com from the address you sign in with. We'll confirm, cancel your Aula plan, and within 30 days delete your workspace, courses, uploaded files, student records and sales records from Aula. Export anything you want to keep first. Deleting your Aula account doesn't close your Stripe account; your Stripe dashboard keeps its own payment records, under Stripe's terms.

Students: ask the creator you bought from (their email is at the bottom of their course pages), or email us. Deleting your details ends your access to the course. The creator keeps a record of the sale itself (amount and date) where the law requires it for tax and accounting.

Backups: deleted data can stay in our hosting provider's encrypted database backups for a short time (at most 30 days) until they're overwritten.

What we keep after deletion

An append-only security log records actions such as sign-ins and refunds by internal ID. It contains no course content. We also keep anonymous, aggregated numbers (for example, how many courses were published in a month).
